What Is Airsoft ? Airsoft is a military-themed, tactical, team-based game using low-powered, electric or gas operated 'soft-air' guns. The weapons fire 6mm plastic balls, or 'BB's'. Airsoft is very similar to paintball in many respects, but much more inclined to military simulation. It also hurts much less and you don't get covered in paint. Where Can I Find Out More ? There are a number of websites that specialise purely in information about Airsoft and the equipment involved, including the association that has been regulating the sport since the introduction of the VCRA, the UK Airsoft Retailers Association (UKARA). More information on the association can be found on the UKARA website. For more information about airsoft, try some of the links on my airsoft links page.
How do I Play ? You can find links to various airsoft game sites on my Airsoft Links page. Rules vary from site to site and most organisers will have certain in-house rules like the use of medic characters or only allowing the use of certain weapons inside buildings. I play mainly in the Peterborough area at Urban Assault. Before visiting an airsoft site, you should visit their website and familiarise yourself with these specifics. On my links page you can find links to skirmish sites, and also to retailers who sell the guns, accessories and equipment, such as Fire Support. Due to the current limitations of the Violent Crime Reduction Act, you must be a member of UKARA before buying a complete airsoft weapon (Realistic Imitation Firearm or RIF) but most skirmish sites have guns that can be hired. Again, check with the site before visiting. I hope you enjoy this site.
